Genesis Keys & Capsules give all collectors a chance to unlock Genesis digital pins — 1-of-1 digital pins that were the first ever minted on Disney Pinnacle by Dapper Labs.

Genesis Edition Digital Pins
Genesis Editions are the rarest and most historic digital pins in Disney Pinnacle by Dapper Labs. They are all single-variant 1-of-1s, making each one completely unique, and they are the very first digital pins ever minted in the app.
The Genesis Keys & Capsules event is the first time any Genesis digital pins are released on the platform, and every collector will have the chance to chase, unlock, and secure one of the three Genesis digital pins up for grabs.
Genesis Keys
Genesis Keys are free, in-app items that give you a chance to unlock a Genesis Capsule and collect a 1-of-1 Genesis digital pin.
- You can claim one (1) free Genesis Key from the Revolving Storefront each time it refreshes every 4 hours, at 1 a.m., 5 a.m., 9 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 9 p.m. PDT.
- Genesis Keys are not digital collectibles or NFTs and cannot be bought, sold, transferred, or traded.
- Each Genesis Key can be used once to attempt to unlock any active Genesis Capsule, and they are consumed upon use.
- Unused Genesis Keys will expire and be removed from the app once all three Genesis Capsules have been unlocked by collectors and the event ends.
- Genesis Key claims are not capped and can continue to be claimed, even after 300,000 total have been distributed, until all three Genesis Capsules have been successfully unlocked and the event ends.
- Genesis Keys may also be distributed through alternate channels including, but not limited to, milestone rewards and limited, single-use promotional vouchers. These additional Genesis Keys will be clearly marked to indicate whether they count toward the total Genesis Keys claimed.
Genesis Capsules
This event features three (3) total Genesis Capsules, each containing one Genesis digital pin. Only one collector will successfully unlock each Genesis Capsule and receive the digital pin inside.
- Once the event begins, all Genesis Capsules start off in an inactive state, and no one is able to attempt to unlock them.
- Genesis Capsules become “LIVE” (accessible for unlock attempts) as the entire community claims Genesis Keys and hit the following shared milestones:
- At 100,000 total Genesis Keys claimed — The first Genesis Capsule containing a Disney’s Simba & Rafiki Genesis Edition digital pin goes live
- At 200,000 total Genesis Keys claimed — The second Genesis Capsule containing a Disney/Pixar’s Mr. & Mrs. Incredible Genesis Edition digital pin goes live
- At 300,000 total Genesis Keys claimed — The third and final Genesis Capsule containing a Star Wars™ Qui-Gon Jinn & Darth Maul Genesis Edition digital pin goes live
- Once a Genesis Capsule is live, you can use your Genesis Keys to try to unlock it.
- Each attempt consumes the Genesis Key used and removes it from your account.
- You can use any Genesis Key, regardless of when you claimed it, to try to unlock any live Genesis Capsule.
Unlock Mechanism and Odds
- Each Genesis Capsule starts with a 1/100,000 chance to be unlocked by a Genesis Key, and is guaranteed to unlock within 100,000 total keys used in attempts.
- Each Genesis Capsule displays a running count of Genesis Keys used in attempts to unlock it, and the probability of unlocking it increases as the count approaches 100,000.
- The random draw mechanism is triggered the moment a Genesis Key is used in an unlock attempt.
- There is no predetermined “winning” Genesis Key. (e.g. no “golden ticket” mechanism)

How to Participate
Home Screen
- Shows the inactive Genesis Capsule that’ll go live once the next claim milestone is reached, with a running count of total Genesis Keys claimed in the app.
- Shows all live Genesis Capsules that you can attempt to unlock, with a running count of total Genesis Keys used in unlock attempts.
Shop Screen
- Access the Revolving Storefront where you can claim one (1) free Genesis Key each time it refreshes every 4 hours.
My Collection Screen
During the event, the My Collection screen will display a "Keys" tab where you can:
- Track how many Genesis Keys you own
- Access any live Genesis Capsules
- View the next, inactive Genesis Capsule waiting to go live
Using Genesis Keys -- [UPDATED JUNE 30th, 2025]
- Once a Genesis Capsule is live, you can join the queue to try to unlock it.
- When it is your turn, you’ll have 2 minutes to select how many Genesis Keys you want to use (from 1 to 100 keys) and confirm your attempt.
- Each Genesis Capsule will start off allowing up to five (5) collectors to attempt unlocking it at a time.
- Once a Genesis Capsule hits 90,000 unlock attempts, only three (3) collectors can attempt to unlock it at a time.
- Once a Genesis Capsule hits 95,000 unlock attempts, only one (1) collector can attempt to unlock it at a time.
- Any Genesis Keys used will be consumed and removed from your account!
What Happens if I Unlock a Genesis Capsule?
If you successfully unlock a Genesis Capsule, you’ll receive the 1-of-1 Genesis digital pin inside it and it’ll immediately be added to your collection. Congrats!
Genesis digital pins can be traded or sold when trading or the Marketplace is live.
